DESCRIPTION:A brand new exhibition is underway at the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, until April 19, 2025. Stéphanie Desmeules, landscape architect and stamp artist, is presenting two collections of her creations: Filicophytes and Without waiting for the right return of words, I extinguish the spark at the end of the world.\nFilicophytes\nThe Filicophytes series is a collection of works exploring the mysterious and complex beauty of ferns. We can discern a fern through a cloud of spores, like a dense and enigmatic fog or a starry country sky. Within this mist, linear yellow or orange embroideries, bright and striking fuchsia inks, contrast with the subtlety and complexity of the black dots. These clear and lively lines, symbols of light and energy, add a powerful dynamic to the work. They structure the composition, creating invisible connections and guiding the eye through the graphic fog. Each of the Cryptograms invites a visual exploration, playing on the contrast between the organic softness of the fern, the density of the stitches and the intensity of the embroidery.\nWithout waiting for the right return of words, I extinguish the spark at the end of the world\nFour paintings weave the story of a dracaena which, for three decades, has slowly gone through the artist’s seasons, and followed him to the rhythm of my moves. It seems to stretch, expand, and fade in all directions always seeking the warm rays. Each work captures the essence of this silent companion, etched on suckering shapes in vibrant hues of yellow-orange, pale pink and dark pink, while the background and details vary, telling each scene in a unique light.\nHere is how Stéphanie defines her visual artist side:\n“My playground: printing linocuts in a figurative, abstract and contemporary style with additions of ink, watercolors and embroidery on local artisanal paper fibers. I weave and stamp fibers of art, activism and traditions from the Haute-Gaspésie landscape. My product is not Art with a capital A, it is a rustic, wild fiber, a piece of ocean, a fraction of Chic Chocs, ancestral techniques woven and mixed, eco-responsible, a line on the blank page of a universe that just needs to be filled! »\nCome discover the uniqueness of his creations at the exhibition hall of the Maison de la culture until April 19, 2025.\nEveryone is welcome!
