DESCRIPTION:Beat Sexü is the creative outlet for two multi-talented artists of the Quebec City music scene. J-E and Jim, the leading figures of the singular Pantoum, create an ingenious and just-right-out-there blend of all kinds of grooves. Their vibrant sound, irresistible to discerning listeners and music lovers alike, is as relaxing as it is danceable, leaning towards minimalism, easy listening, dance music, and a touch of psychedelia. Whether in the living room, on stage, or at the after-party, Beat Sexü offers memorable basslines, untamed rhythmic cadences, unique sounds, and a hint of experimental instinct, along with suggestive and playful lyrics that are their hallmark.\nRough, contrasting, and labyrinthine, Alix Fernz’s tracks delve into the scalene enclave of post-punk while flirting with hypnagogic pop, creating a lo-fi hybrid of synthwave and alternative rock, onto which catchy yet distorted melodies are grafted. Bizou, her debut studio effort released on April 19, 2024, via Mothland, is by turns immersive and vibrant, and sharp and strident, relying on the unlikely pairing of candid songwriting and claustrophobic production. “Maneuvering saturated riffs and the deliberate pursuit of a raw sound, Alix Fernz creates music imbued with a resolutely marginal DIY spirit.” (The Line of Best Fit) Since entering the Montreal underground scene, Fernz has shared the stage with a host of transcendent artists such as Frankie & The Witch Fingers, This Is Lorelei, Kap Bambino, Deli Girls, Omni, Edith Nylon, Slash Need, Galaxie, and Violett Pi, also participating in numerous landmark events including The Great Escape, SXSW, FEQ, Francos de Montréal, Fifty Lab, M for Montreal, Up Here, Project Nowhere, and FME, with a few dates in London, UK. Her second album, Symphonie publicitaire sous influence, was released this fall via Mothland.
