Open mic + Writing workshop with Camille Montagne
The evening begins with a creative writing session from 5 to 7 pm led by an artist from the Upper Gaspé Peninsula. This time, Camille Montagne will lead a workshop on repetition and wonder in poetry.
Space is limited, and you must register here.
Camille Montagne lives in the Mont-Louis Valley. She is a storyteller, author, and theatre artist. In her daily life and in her creative work, she strives to nurture her community, weave queer feminist narratives, and support Indigenous resurgence. She loves telling stories and, above all, listening to them, whether in bed, around the fire, or at the kitchen counter. In 2019, she published the poetry collection *La peur des rivières* (The Fear of Rivers) with AURA Publishing. Since then, she has notably participated in the collective Et nous sommes resté·es sur le seuil, which emerged from the 5th feminist writing retreat of Salon 58. She is currently working on writing her first dramatic text, which focuses on the emotional reality of environmental activism.
*Participation in the workshop is not at all mandatory to come and share your creative impulses at the open mic night!*
Starting at 7:30 pm, the doors of Sasquatch open for the open mic night. The public is invited to come and discover what was created during the workshop and to share their own creations: text, music, dance, projection, performance, or other medium. Once again, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The Sasquatch bar will be open for drinks.
Open mic nights are accessible and supportive spaces that allow everyone to explore their artistic side. They offer a free stage for self-expression without judgment. These evenings encourage spontaneity, self-confidence, and the discovery of hidden talents. They also allow you to connect with a creative community and experiment in a pressure-free environment. Whether you take to the stage or are simply a spectator, open mic nights nurture imagination, boldness, and the desire to create, again and again.
At the end of the year, a zine will be produced, compiling the most memorable works presented throughout the year.
