Textile Transmission is a project which aims to develop the transmission of textile know-how.
Step 1 was to create simple, transportable and affordable tools to be able to offer introductions to weaving in different places and to different audiences. Thanks to the FAB LAB in Matane, weaving frames were made using laser cutting. (The Fab Lab is a collaborative digital manufacturing workshop accessible to all). The goal is to perpetuate and arouse curiosity about textile know-how, we will be able to see that it is possible to create links between tradition and modernity.
Stage 2 is the first transmission and initiation workshop in weaving. Thanks to the weaving frames, participants will be able to understand the foundations of weaving, they will leave with a small piece made with Kamouraska wool (Kamouraska Fiber Farm and Company).
This project is carried out thanks to the financial support of the government of Quebec, the Gaspésie─Îles-de-la-Madeleine Regional Leisure and Sport Unit and the Société d’Histoire de la Haute-Gaspésie.
