A mecca for hiking and backcountry skiing, Gasp\u00e9sie National Park is your gateway to extraordinary mountain environments. The Chic-Choc and McGerrigle mountain ranges dominate the park. With an elevation of 1,270 metres, Mont Jacques-Cartier is the second highest peak in Quebec. This high elevation has a profound influence on the climate, giving rise to a unique landscape and invaluable biodiversity. The arctic and alpine plants and the tundra landscapes create habitat for a herd of woodland caribou, the last representatives of this species south of the Saint Lawrence River.<\/p>\n

Just outside the park, the Chic-Chocs wildlife reserve also gives outdoor enthusiasts the chance to discover breathtaking Appalachian landscapes, including the barren summits of Mont Blanche-Lamontagne (940\u00a0m), Mont Valli\u00e8res-de-Saint-R\u00e9al (940\u00a0m), Mont Hog\u2019s Back (830\u00a0m), and Mont Brown (920\u00a0m). The imposing mountains form a stunning backdrop for fishing and big game hunting (moose and bear). Further north, deep glacial valleys stretch toward the municipalities of Mont-Saint-Pierre and Mont-Louis. Even more vast than the national park, the reserve offers visitors endless opportunities to fall under the spell of this untamed wilderness.<\/p> <\/div>\r\n\r\n
