Exhibition ”Planetary: a work in development”

A brand new exhibition is underway at the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts until March 22, 2025. Marius Jomphe, a nature photographer who lives in Gaspé, is presenting Planetary: A Work in Development.

Born in Havre-Saint-Pierre, on the Côte-Nord, Marius Jomphe obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1976. While continuing to exhibit his work regularly, he taught for thirty years at the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles. Since 1990, he has devoted himself exclusively to photography. His interest in science (astrobiology, neuroscience) marks his photographic practice, which extends to the territories of Pointe de la Gaspésie as well as the Rivière-au-Tonnerre region, on the Côte-Nord.

Following two artist residencies – the first at the Percé Art Centre during the Les Percéides Festival in the summer of 2024 and the second at the Espace F Artist Centre in Matane in the fall – Marius Jomphe continued his work of reflection with a view to producing his third book, Sonde. At the Maison de la culture, he presents a preview of his photographs as well as the model of his next book. This new publication is in addition to his photographic books Bruine, La Pointe de la Gaspésie, published in 2018, and Passage, released in 2021.
