Feminist Cabaret 2025

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, starting at 7 p.m., the 5th edition of our popular Feminist Cabaret will be held at the Marsoui Recreation Center!
Year after year, this shared event, which stems from the Writing Retreat at Salon58, allows audiences and authors to gather around the texts and ideas that emerged during this week of writing. On the agenda: readings, performances, and discussions.

For this anniversary edition, at the invitation of the Retreat team, 17 of the 38 participants from previous editions will be gathered at Salon58 to contribute to a special event inspired by the concept of the exquisite corpse. In a nod to the 100th anniversary of Surrealism (1924-2024), we ask the following question: What can feminist thought and practice do to disrupt or challenge this artistic movement? For a week, the authors will work on individual texts with their own trajectories, tones, and themes, but these will be linked: the last sentence of one text will always be the first of the next, like an exquisite corpse.
The result of this conceptual and collective work will be presented in the form of a performative reading on Saturday, May 10, 2025, then printed as a handcrafted zine thanks to Noeuds Éditions and widely distributed by Mandoline Hybride and its partners.
