Inspiring portrait – Marlène Sohier

Marlène left the region at the age of 25, hoping to return to settle there for her retirement. At 60, driven by the desire to contribute to the development and influence of her village, she finally decided to return to her roots. Upon returning to Marsoui, she joined the Marsoui Local Development Committee, following the example of her mother and grandmother, both deeply involved in the community.
Marlène has devoted much of her energy to the realization of two major cultural projects that have played a key role in the region’s tourism boom. The first was the opening of the Commun’Art community craft shop in 2018, and the second was the inauguration of the Parcours des Bancs 9 in 2024. This unique trail runs through the village and allows visitors to discover the work of nine local artists who collaborated on the project and added their own artistic touch.
Her goal is clear: to continue to promote her region and actively participate in the revitalization of her village. She currently supports the Marsoui church redevelopment project and is part of a team working to create an alternative school.
Passionate about many fields, from dance to reading, crafts, theater, and music, Marlène devotes her free time to leading various activities in the village. Always curious and involved, she continues to pursue her passions and involve her village in projects that make a difference.
