Makenzie | Andrea Prochazka

Makenzie’s alternative pop is presented through arrangements and rich lyrics that go off the beaten track of pop and song, whether through her post-impressionist style or through her fluid melodies. Imbued with late 60s and 70s reminiscence, Makenzie’s universe, a clever blend of folk, rock and baroque pop, is as touching as it is electrifying. Resolutely feminist in her designs, the singer-songwriter surrounds herself with a majority of daring women on stage. From this cohesive and embodied whole an enveloping spectacle unfolds; where light and darkness coexist without compromise.

For around ten years, we have been able to hear Andrea Prochazka within several musical groups (including Bolduc tout croch and Ce qui nous travers). His solo project presents itself as a self-discovery, a deep reflection on life which is expressed in soft French-speaking songs which can sometimes confront us. On stage, Andrea Prochazka seizes time and welcomes us into a complete stop of the mind. The poignant lyrics are juxtaposed with the precise and raw classical guitar. Through her songs, the singer-songwriter throws herself into poetic confidences that capture her and sails among the possibilities, sometimes offering refined pieces that touch all our heartstrings. She also adds the same emotions in denser atmospheres, including the drum machine and the clarinets of Elyze Venne-Deshaies.
