NOVA BHATTACHARYA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FURIES
In partnership with FURIES, the Marsoui contemporary dance festival, we are happy to welcome Nova Bhattacharya on the beach at the Sea Shack on July 26 AND 27 in the morning. On each of these days, there will be a performance at 10:00 a.m.
The exact location on the Sea Shack beach will be communicated the morning of the show.
Nova Bhattacharya is an award-winning artist and cultural leader based in Tkaronto, Toronto. Rebel and freeing herself from social barriers, she reinterprets traditions and reinvents rituals by drawing her inspiration from identities, hybridity and cultural diversity.
In 2008, she founded Nova Dance, a company that adheres to the principle that building the world from the margins ensures the inclusion of all. The company provides a space for essential dialogues through movement and serves the community with kindness, compassion and generosity.
His most recent choreography, Svāhā!, features a troupe of 22 performers mastering more than 29 dance forms currently practiced on Turtle Island. This epic work embodies his vision of a company that dissolves the perceived boundaries between culture and technology and places marginalized bodies at its center. Nova is convinced that dance expresses the essence of our humanity.
