(Les Capucins)

The monolith that gives the municipality its name is surrounded by many stories and legends. Located between the sea and the mountains, Cap-Chat is home to the tallest vertical-axis wind turbine in the world, which towers above the 133 wind turbines of Le Nordais wind farm. With an installed capacity of 100 MW, Le Nordais is one of the largest wind farms in North America. Be sure to stop in Les Capucins, a village at the western edge of Cap-Chat, for a unique panoramic view of this symbol of green energy. Capucins Bay is a great bird-watching destination.

Further east, the rest area at the mouth of the Cap-Chat River, a lovely salmon river, provides access to the beach and a paved promenade along one of the most beautiful bays in the region, all with the Chic-Choc Mountains as a backdrop. It’s a great place to admire the glorious sunsets for which the north coast of the peninsula is so well known. Cap-Chat is also home to several educational and health facilities, as well as an outdoor recreation area and a sports centre.
