Marc L’Italien

Marc was a park ranger and naturalist at Gaspésie National Park for nearly 40 years. He is known for his rigor and professionalism, but above all because he knows this vast territory of 802 km2 better than anyone. No matter the subject, Marc always finds something to tell… Fauna, flora, history, geology, education, geomorphology… It’s a real encyclopedia on two legs.

But what brought him to this profession? After completing his university studies in teaching, he found a summer job as a naturalist guide at the park and that’s when it clicked. He discovered that it was possible for him to combine his two passions: passing on his knowledge and enjoying the outdoors.

Marc is a great enthusiast, he likes to learn and share his discoveries with visitors. What does he love more than anything? It’s about meeting people, exchanging and sharing your knowledge while answering their questions. In the summer season, he found himself almost every day at the top of a mountain. For him, up there was his office.

Marc is now conservation and education coordinator at Gaspésie National Park, which now allows him to pass on his passion to the employees who will take over from him. He always has a story to tell, advice to give or a discovery to highlight. He is so passionate that even in his spare time, he practices outdoor activities and is interested in everything related to the natural environment. He is also a music lover and always ready to laugh.

Marc has more than 70,000 customer contacts under his belt. Will you be next?

Marc’s favorite

“Recently, I had the chance to go sea fishing and it was a revelation, I discovered my part of the country from another perspective. Like the first arrivals who settled here, I saw my region as a whole. My favorite is this image of the mountains seen from the sea, these mountains that I have been around for more than 40 years. »
