Danielle and Éric, both passionate about Haute-Gaspésie, have found their place in this region they now call home. Danielle, originally from Val-d’Espoir, grew up in Gaspé and studied in Montreal. Éric, meanwhile, was born in Alma and raised in Saint-Léonard before spending the first part of his life traveling the world. About twenty years ago, they chose to settle in Cap-Chat after discovering the Mont-Lyall Agate Mine.

It was in 2004, during their vacation in Gaspésie, that the couple fell in love with the Agate Mine and decided to make it their life’s project. This year, they are celebrating their 21st season at the helm of the company, a dream come true. Their passion for nature, the forest and precious stones is reflected in their work, as is their desire to contribute to the local economy by offering visitors to the region authentic souvenirs.

Although they are approaching retirement and say they are ready to pass the torch to explore new projects, Danielle and Éric remain deeply attached to their region. They dream of finally taking the time to rediscover the Gaspé Peninsula, to pursue their respective passions, and to enjoy precious moments with their grandchildren. For them, the quality of life, the fresh air, and the breathtaking landscapes of Haute-Gaspésie are treasures they cherish every day.

“It’s hard to say anything else: the Mont-Lyall Agate Mine and the Chic-Choc Mountains hold a special place in our hearts. Living by the water, between the sea and the mountains, enriches our daily lives. But what really matters is the quality of life and the warmth of the people. It’s a cliché, but so true!”
