In Matane, on the shore of the St. Lawrence River, Nadia reflects on the loving bond she maintains with this place that saw her born, grow up, leave and return. His peace is troubled. She knows that her body remains outside the collective Quebec narrative. Yet it exists. She exists. And she is not alone. She hears the voices of those who, like her, carry this incredible look of emotion.
A reflective sound object, I hear the incredible looks of empaysement gives rise to a unique perspective of contemporary Quebec, through various voices whose starting point is common, but whose trajectories are singular. It’s an outstretched hand. An invitation to place yourself in the depths of a widespread but little-heard human experience.
