About the artist:
After opening his first art gallery—*1000 Azurs*—in Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood in 1988 and exhibiting his work in various galleries (including the Pyramid Gallery in New York’s SoHo district), Claude Rioux returned to his native Haute-Gaspésie region in 1992. There, he began building his second art studio and gallery. To make a living from his art, he shifted his focus from painting to public art and monumental sculpture, creating around fifteen public art pieces across various regions of Quebec. A multidisciplinary artist, he has rediscovered the potential of driftwood, which inspires works that are as original as they are unique. A professional artist recognized by the RAAV and CMAQ, he frequently participates in solo and group exhibitions to showcase his creativity and the diversity of his work. Claude Rioux now spends all his time doing what he loves… making art!
