Pascal Demalsy and the Antarctic Orchestra

Pascal Demalsy and the Orchestre de l’Antarctica’s new show brings together Alex Parke (clarinet and pifano), Tobias Soley (clarinet, 7-string guitar) from São Paulo, Vincent Delorme (viola and vocals) from Montreal, and Pascal Demalsy (composition, accordion, vocals, and guitar) from Rimouski. They combine our virtuoso prowess and our gentle madness in this show, as breathtaking as it is absurd, blending music and theater, and telling the story of a penguin who sets out on an adventure to stop the war by finding the Tupperware containers misplaced by his emperor penguin. In a neo-trad atmosphere at the crossroads of klezmer, Brazilian forró, swing, and baroque counterpoint, sometimes dramatic and romantic, but more often festive and untimely, interspersed with original sung compositions blending with instrumental ones, their eclectic and surprising music knows how to transport the audience and keep them on the edge of their seats.
